The Season 2019/2020 at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma opens on 10 December 2019 with Giuseppe Verdi’s work Les vêpres siciliennes. The Grand-Opéra in five acts (libretto by Eugène Scribe and Charles Duveyrier) was first performed at Teatro dell’Opéra in Paris, on 13 June 1855. Conductor of the Orchestra is Daniele Gatti and director Valentina Carrasco. It is a Teatro dell’Opera di Roma new production, sung in French with Italian and English surtitles.
Further in December (from 14 to 21) the Tosca by Giacomo Puccini wil be performed. The melodrama in three acts (libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica after the drama by Victorien Sardou) was first performed at Teatro Costanzi in Rome, on 14 January 1900. Conductor of the Orchestra is Pier Giorgio Morandi and director Alessandro Talevi. The Opera is sung in Italian with Italian and English surtitles.
